Covering almost all in-shore, near shore, angling and off-shore techniques, this real fishing workhorse has been based on the legacy of the Penn Spinfisher V.

The Penn® Spinfisher® VII Live Liner features IPX5 sealing, so whether it gets hit with a wave, or you let it ride in the spray all the way home, you don’t have to worry about saltwater getting into the gearbox, or drag system.

The HT-100 Drag Washers are housed in a fully sealed spool, to give the stopping power needed for big saltwater fish. A Full Metal Body and side plate keep the CNC Gear System in precise alignment under heavy loads.

The Live Liner feature is perfect for saltwater live baiting and freshwater free spool techniques. This feature has become a hot thing since Casting from the Boat started becoming a popular fishing style in the Mediterranean, especially with the use of fresh bait.

The way the Live Liner system works, is very simple. You have a standard front drag configuration system, like any other spinning reel. The Live Liner, or Bait Feeder system, is not a Drag, rather it is resistance to your spool. The Live Liner ® system was built for fishing with live bait. Simply pull the switch back and the front drag disengages. When you flick the lever down, the Penn Spinfisher will go through four stages, each one applying more resistance to the spool. The Live Liner effectively disengages the Front Drag and the spool, allowing the fish to pick up the bait and swim away with it, before you wind and click the reel into gear.

A few words about how the IPX5 test rating is attributed. Water projected by a 6.3mm nozzle, at a flow rate of 12.5 litres/ min, at a pressure of 30kN/m² for 3 minutes, from a distance of 3 meters, against enclosure, from any direction. The reel shall have no harmful effects.
