Description
Solvent for diluting Polyester Resins and Gel Coats.
Styrene is used in production of unsaturated resins, Gel Coats and other coatings. It pre-exists in the afore mentioned materials, as a basic ingredient, in a ratio of 30-40%.
In some cases can be used additionally as a diluent of Polyester, Gel Coat, Top Coat. When a resin is thinned with styrene becomes even more fluid and impregnating. This serves for the purpose of priming a wood, or a porous surface before lamination.
Also used to dilute Gel Coat when applied with a spray gun.
In case of castings, styrene is also necessary with certain types of resins mixed then with fillers
Caution: Volatile liquid with strong odour, flammable.
